Singapore by Bicycle:
A City in Many Rhythms
A skyline across the water. A park connector beneath the trees. A table where several cultures meet. Explore Singapore through short coastal rides, deliberate city transitions and neighbourhoods that deserve a slower look.

How to use this guide
- Use official route, visitor and transport links before departure.
- Ride concepts are editorial suggestions; no GPX or continuous bicycle route is implied.
- Review current path closures, weather and local signs at each transition.
- Locations are approximate planning references. Rental inventory and access are not live.
Intelligent Explore
Find your next move.
Choose a reference, compare nearby places and keep your return plan visible. GPS is optional; every included place can be used as a manual reference.

GPS is requested only when you tap. Selected positions stay in this page’s memory until you clear them or leave. Opening directions or sharing sends the selected position to the service you choose.
No location selected. Browse without GPS, or choose a manual reference.
Manual references are planning points, not your GPS location.

Your own bicycle
For longer riding, arrange a suitable bicycle and a realistic return plan. A landmark pin is not a shared-bike parking zone, rental outlet or available bicycle.
No live bike or parking inventory is connected to this guide. A return reference does not end a rental; complete the operator’s current return procedure.

The Singapore Answer
A city that changes rhythm at every edge.
Singapore is an island city-state in Southeast Asia. Its parks, waterfronts and neighbourhoods offer distinct ways to explore by bicycle and on foot; local access signs matter as much as the map.
Where to begin
For a first outing, this guide suggests a short East Coast Park out-and-back. Set your own turnaround, confirm bicycle access and leave time for breaks.
How the network works
The Park Connector Network links green spaces, while city streets and walking-only areas require separate decisions. A line on a map does not confirm continuous bicycle access. Explore the official PCN
The ARVENTO view
The destination is also a change of attention: sea air, a shaded pause, a street explored on foot. Let the city set the rhythm before you set a distance.
What makes Singapore distinctive for a cycling visit?
Singapore brings coastal park riding, urban green connections and cultural neighbourhoods into a compact travel chapter. Treat the ride and the walking visit as complementary plans, and verify current closures before linking them.

Choose Your Singapore
Coast. Bay. A street worth walking.
Three editorial outing ideas, without fixed lengths, ride times or a GPX trace. Check the actual start, connection and return for your bicycle and the day’s conditions.
East Coast Park, at your own distance
Choose a manageable section of the coastal park and return by the same checked connection. Make the turnaround a deliberate choice before heat, crowds or weather change the day.
- Start from a confirmed rental outlet or a legal bicycle-parking location.
- Use designated paths and give pedestrians room at junctions.
- Stop for food or a sea view after parking clear of the path.
Marina Bay, with a checked connection
Treat Marina Bay landmarks and a Gardens visit as a sequence of stops. Current construction changes the cycling connection near Bay South, so do not assume an uninterrupted waterfront loop.
- Review the Gardens diversion notice and map before departure.
- Walk through crowded landmark areas and use signed alternatives.
- Choose an easy return point rather than chasing a complete circuit.
Katong–Joo Chiat, beyond the seafront
Pair a coastal outing with a separately planned neighbourhood walk. Shophouse details, food and small streets reward attention after the bicycle has been parked.
- Check the actual street connection from your chosen coastal section.
- Park legally; keep residential doorways and narrow pavements clear.
- Visit Kampong Gelam as another cultural chapter, not an assumed direct cycle route.

Ride Logic
Read the next transition before taking it.
A park connector, a busy crossing and a heritage street call for different choices. Use official notices and the signs in front of you.
Identify the path
Distinguish a cycling path, shared path and footpath from a Pedestrian-Only Path. Bicycles are not permitted on Pedestrian-Only Paths.
Make room
Yield to pedestrians, reduce speed around others and walk the bicycle through crowds. Keep the path clear when stopping for a photograph.
Check the link
Review NParks closures and Gardens notices. Do not bypass fencing, a no-riding sign or a closed connection to preserve a planned route.
Protect the return
A coastline extension can become a different outing in heat or a storm. Keep a shorter way back and a confirmed bicycle-return plan.

Questions Before the Ride
Clear answers for a better day outside.
Short answers for planning a Singapore cycling visit, with official sources for the next decision.
Where should I start cycling in Singapore as a visitor?
This guide suggests a short East Coast Park out-and-back as an introductory outing. Confirm a suitable bicycle and start point, follow the designated paths and set a turnaround that leaves time for weather and breaks.
Is every waterfront path in Marina Bay open to bicycles?
No. Access varies by section. At the review date, Gardens by the Bay lists a cycling restriction along its Waterfront Promenade during bridge construction from 4 May 2026, with an alternative around Bay South Garden. Check the current official notice and signs.
Can I cycle inside Singapore Botanic Gardens?
No. Cycling is not permitted inside Singapore Botanic Gardens. Use designated bicycle parking at the entrances and explore on foot.
Can I ride on every footpath in Singapore?
No. Pedestrian-Only Paths prohibit bicycles. Access differs between path types, and riders must follow the posted signs and current LTA rules. Dismount where no riding is required.
How can I rent a bicycle in Singapore?
Use a shared-bicycle operator’s official app for current service information, or confirm an East Coast Park rental outlet directly. Check pricing, bicycle fit, helmet provision, account requirements and the complete return procedure before starting.
Does this guide show live bicycles or parking availability?
No. It provides curated place references and links to operators and public information. A map pin or return reference does not confirm a bicycle, rental outlet, parking permission or available space.
Can I bring a full-size road bicycle onto public transport?
Do not assume a full-size road bicycle can be taken aboard. LTA’s carriage guidance allows devices within 120 × 70 × 40 cm, with foldable bicycles kept folded. Check the current operator rules and arrange another transfer if your bicycle does not qualify.
Is the entire 150 km Round Island Route ready for a continuous ride?
Do not assume so. NParks describes the 150 km Round Island Route as the planned complete network and identifies a 75 km Phase 1. Check the current phase map, notices and actual access for the section you intend to use.
When is a suitable time of day to ride?
Choose a manageable weather window rather than relying only on the season. Singapore is warm and humid throughout the year, with rain and thunderstorms possible. Check the official forecast before leaving and shorten or postpone the outing when conditions change.
Are these distances and directions verified bicycle routes?
No. Distances are straight-line estimates from GPS or a clearly labelled manual reference. External directions use walking mode for orientation and do not verify a safe, legal or continuous bicycle connection.
Bicycle & Transit
Plan the whole transfer, including the bicycle.
The journey back is part of the route. Choose transport that can actually carry your bicycle.
MRT, LRT and buses
Use LTA’s device-carriage guidance and the current operator conditions. Folded size must not exceed 120 × 70 × 40 cm, and foldable bicycles must remain folded. Read LTA guidance
Busy services
Avoid blocking doors or aisles and do not board if your device cannot be handled without obstructing others. SBS Transit publishes the relevant carriage FAQs. Read operator FAQs
Airport or road-bicycle transfers
Confirm a vehicle that accepts your bicycle, packaging and luggage in advance. Do not assume a standard taxi, ride-hail vehicle, hotel shuttle or public bus will accept it.
Bicycle Access
Match the bicycle to the outing.
A short shared-bike trip and a longer road ride need different preparation.
Shared bicycles
Use the operator’s app to check current coverage and the complete parking and return steps. End the trip only through the operator’s procedure; a saved ARVENTO reference does not return the bicycle. Open Anywheel
Park rental
East Coast Park’s official visitor page lists bicycle rental facilities. Verify the outlet’s current operation, available bicycle types, deposit, helmet and return time directly. Read park visitor information
Road or folding bicycle
Confirm fit, brakes, lights, repair equipment and transport compatibility. If hiring, ask about the permitted riding area, weather cancellation, liability and recovery support.
Stay With a Return Plan
Choose a useful base, then confirm the details.
These are area-planning ideas. No hotel is certified or endorsed as cyclist-friendly by this guide.
Marina Bay & Downtown
Useful to consider for a city-and-skyline chapter. Confirm secure bicycle storage, lift access and the actual permitted route from the property.
Katong & the east
An area to consider when culture and a coastal outing share the visit. Check the real walking or cycling connection and current construction.
Your practical checklist
Ask about bicycle storage, charging if relevant, cleaning policy, early departure and baggage handling. Check whether your reservation covers what you need.
For cyclist-friendly accommodation
Contact ARVENTO with the destination and the practical needs of your visit. Confirm storage and service arrangements directly with the accommodation.

Rider Base
Keep the next step simple.
A useful pause gives you a place to check the route, reassess the weather and decide how much more the day needs.
Before departure
Confirm the forecast, route access, bicycle condition and return deadline. Carry water and choose a shorter alternative.
At a stop
Park legally, keep walkways clear and take a moment away from moving traffic before using the location tools.
Before the return
Check the time, weather and operator’s return rules. A saved point is an orientation aid, not a booking or parking entitlement.
Save a reference before you need it.
The Explore section can keep one return point in this page’s memory. Clearing the location or leaving the page removes it.
Open Intelligent ExploreSingapore Through the Year
Read the weather, not a four-season calendar.
Singapore’s tropical climate calls for flexible timing and manageable effort. Check the Meteorological Service Singapore forecast before each outing.
- All year: Warm, humid conditions and rainfall are part of the planning. Leave room for water, shade and a shorter day.
- Northeast Monsoon · December to March: Rain patterns vary within the season. Do not assume the same conditions every morning.
- Southwest Monsoon · June to September: Check for changing winds, showers and squalls rather than assuming a dry-season ride.
- Inter-monsoon periods: Thunderstorms can be prominent. A promising start does not guarantee an uninterrupted outing.

Responsible Use
Follow the signs in front of you.
This is an independent ARVENTO travel and culture guide. Official rules, access notices and operator terms take precedence.
- Follow Singapore traffic rules, signed path restrictions, closures and staff instructions. Bicycles are not allowed on Pedestrian-Only Paths; do not assume all green spaces permit cycling.
- Wear a helmet when cycling on roads. Use the lighting and equipment required by current rules, and do not use a phone while riding.
- Walk through crowded areas and where riding is prohibited. Keep ramps, tactile paving, crossings, worship access and residential entrances clear.
- Landmarks are approximate area references, not verified routes, entrances, parking facilities or real-time services.
- Check rental returns, personal cover and accommodation arrangements directly. No bicycle, parking space or service is reserved through this page.
- Coordinates remain in page memory. Maps, Instagram and sharing services receive information only through the actions described by their controls.
